Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Grounded — our website at groundedpro.io and our mobile app (together, the "Service") — operated by Grounded ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
Grounded is a reference and calculation tool for electrical professionals, available as a website at groundedpro.io and as a mobile app. The Service provides electrical calculators (conduit and box fill, load, motor, transformer, grounding, and more), NEC code references, pipe bending tools, a practice journeyman exam, an apprenticeship hours tracker, panel schedule tools, a spaced-repetition study mode, and an AI assistant. Grounded offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription.

THE CALCULATIONS, REFERENCES, AND AI-GENERATED CONTENT PROVIDED BY GROUNDED ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL AND REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY. THEY DO NOT CONSTITUTE PROFESSIONAL ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING ADVICE, LICENSED CONTRACTOR GUIDANCE, OR CODE COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION.
All electrical work must be performed by qualified, licensed electricians in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable local codes, and the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). Results from Grounded's calculators must be independently verified by a qualified professional before being applied to any real-world electrical installation.
We make no guarantee that any calculation result, AI response, or reference table is accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your specific jurisdiction or project. Electrical codes vary by location and are updated regularly. Always consult the current adopted code edition and your local AHJ.
You assume full responsibility for any decisions made based on information provided by Grounded.
3. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older and that all information you provide is accurate. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the Service.
4. Subscriptions & Payments
Free Plan: Free users get access to core features including the reference tables, basic calculators, all pipe bending tools, and a limited daily number of AI assistant questions.
Pro Plan: Pro subscribers pay the fees listed on our pricing page. Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis and renew automatically until cancelled.
How you're billed: Subscriptions purchased on our website are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions purchased in our Android app are processed by Google Play (and, on iOS in the future, by the Apple App Store). Purchases made through an app store are also subject to that store's terms and policies.
Free Trial: Monthly and annual web subscriptions may include a free trial period. You will not be charged until the trial ends, and you may cancel before it ends to avoid charges. Free trials may not be available for in-app purchases.
Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. Web subscriptions can be cancelled from your account settings; subscriptions purchased through an app store must be cancelled through that store (for example, Google Play → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.
Refunds: For purchases made on our website, all sales are final unless required by law; if you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@groundedpro.io within 7 days of the charge. For in-app purchases, refunds are handled by the app store (Google Play or the App Store) under their respective refund policies.
Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will give at least 30 days' notice before price changes take effect for existing subscribers.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Share your account credentials with others
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service
- Use automated tools or bots to access the Service
- Attempt to circumvent subscription or usage limits
- Upload or transmit harmful, offensive, or malicious content
- Misrepresent your identity or qualifications
- Resell or redistribute access to the Service
6. AI Assistant — Important Limitations
The AI assistant feature is powered by Anthropic's Claude API, a third-party artificial intelligence service. By using the AI assistant, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
Your queries are sent to Anthropic. When you use the AI assistant, your messages are transmitted to Anthropic, Inc.'s servers for processing. Do not include sensitive personal information, private client data, or confidential project details in your queries. Anthropic's usage policies and privacy policy govern their handling of this data.
AI responses may be wrong. Large language models can "hallucinate" — generating confident-sounding but factually incorrect information. The AI may cite incorrect NEC article numbers, give wrong ampacity values, misstate code requirements, or provide outdated information. Every AI response must be independently verified against the current adopted NEC and applicable local codes before being applied to any work.
Not a substitute for professional judgment. The AI assistant is explicitly not a licensed electrician, engineer, or code official. Its responses do not constitute professional advice, code compliance determinations, or inspection approvals. You are solely responsible for verifying that your work meets all applicable codes and standards.
We may modify or limit AI features. We reserve the right to change, limit, or discontinue AI assistant access at any time, including adjusting usage limits, modifying the underlying model, or removing the feature entirely.
No liability for AI content. We are not liable for any damages, losses, failed inspections, safety incidents, or other harm arising from reliance on AI assistant responses. You use this feature entirely at your own risk.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, features, code, design, and trademarks of Grounded are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and display that content as needed to operate the Service.
Third-party trademarks. NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®, and NEC® are registered trademarks of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Quincy, MA. Grounded is an independent reference tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with the NFPA in any way. All references to the NEC are for educational and reference purposes only. The NEC and its contents remain the copyrighted property of the NFPA; Grounded does not reproduce the Code in full and is not a substitute for the official, adopted code text.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any calculation, reference, or AI-generated content provided through the Service.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GROUNDED AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Personal injury or property damage arising from use of calculator results
- Failed electrical inspections or code violations
- Loss of data, revenue, or profits
- Errors or omissions in any calculation or reference content
- Any damages resulting from reliance on AI assistant responses
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $10.00.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Grounded and its owners, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or third-party right; or (d) any decision you make based on information provided by the Service.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
12. Changes to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may add or remove features, change pricing, or shut down the Service with reasonable notice where practicable. We are not liable to you or any third party for any such changes.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
14. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Arkansas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Before filing any legal claim, you agree to contact us at support@groundedpro.io and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Grounded regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
